2019 Call for Abstracts

The 31st Annual Meeting in Special Care Dentistry will be held in the beautiful city of Atlanta, GA on April 12-14, 2019. 


Rules for Submission of Abstracts

Abstracts must meet the following criteria:

  • All submissions will be considered but priority will be given to any submission that has not been previously published or presented on at another conference. Previously presented/published submissions that have significance to the care of people with disabilities, hospital patients, or geriatric patients will be considered before other previously presented/published materials.
  • No reference should be made in the abstract to the names or institutions of the authors.
  • Abstracts must be structured as follows: 1) Background 2) Methods 3) Results 4) Conclusions
  • Abstract text must be between 50 (minimum) and 500 (maximum) words.
  • Each table and/or graph will count as 25 words in the total word count. (Limit two images per abstract.)
  • Abstracts must be submitted under one of the following categories:
Presentation Types*
  • Lecture/Case Study – 60 minutes
  • Short Talk: 20 - 30 minutes
  • Roundtable – 60 minutes
  • Poster Presentation: Authors will be given the opportunity to provide a 3-minute oral presentation of their work during a moderated poster session.
  • Student/Resident Posters: included with the poster competition
  • Non-Student/Non-Resident Posters: oral presentation
*Your presentation preference will be given every consideration; however, the final determination will be made by the Program Committee.


Publication Policy
Submitter(s) agree to grant SCDA a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide license to distribute, copy, or otherwise publish my Program Materials to SCDA’s members and/or the general public at the time of, and immediately after, my presentation at SCDA’s conference. “Program Materials” includes all supporting materials to the program/presentation (e.g. PowerPoint slides, handouts, etc.) and any video or audio tapes made of such presentation/program. SCDA’s publication or distribution of the Program Materials may be made in any format, including hard copy, electronic, or via posting on SCDA’s website and may be subject to a fee charged by SCDA.  It is agreed that the SCDA will not be held responsible for royalties or any damages resulting from intellectual property infringement from either (I) SCDA’s use and distribution of the Program Materials in a manner consistent with this agreement, or (II) any use or misuse of any of the Program Materials by any person who obtains the Program Materials (directly or indirectly) as a result of the SCDA’s permitted use and distribution of the Program Materials.

Special Care Dentistry Association is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry.
